Our Mission
  Our Calling

The LWML seeks to develop and maintain a greater mission consciousness among the women of the Synod through education, inspiration, and service. The major emphasis of our district organization is the support of mission and ministry throughout the world by means of mite box offerings. Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke21:1-4), the mite box is used to collect money for this purpose. Members of the LMWL are given mite boxes to fill. We also offer the congregation the opportunity to participate. The filled mite boxes are then brought to church for collection at the end of the month or to the LWML monthly meetings. These mite box offerings have funded tens of million of dollars in mission grants since the organization’s inception in 1942.

• January: Baby baskets for Silent Voices a Victory Resource Center.  

• February: Backpack Bonanza & Valentines treat bags for 100 residents at the St James Apartment.  

•  March:  Applebee's Pancake Breakfast  &  Spring Festival 

• April: Decorate Easter Cross in Parish Hall for Easter Breakfast.   

•  May: Mother’s Day Raffle and English Tea with small gift basket raffle.

• June: Root Beer Floats for Father’s Day after Worship Service

• July:  VBS, Worship in the Park with Picnic & Kids

• August: from Church Calendar - August 15th Friendsgiving is August 1st 

•  September: Applebee's Pancake Breakfast

•  October: Samaritan's Purse: Christmas Boxes & Octoberfest Fall Festival Host for Zone 23 at St James 

•  November:  Thanksgiving meals for Church families in need with California American water Company.

•  December: sponsor Family Christmas gifts. NOTE: St. James LWML will provide the dinner meal on the 1st Saturday of the month from February 6th to July 3rd at The Storefront.(teenage homeless shelter)

• Activities of the LWML at St. James Lutheran Church

• Monthly meetings held the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm.

• Includes program, bible study, business meeting, fellowship,

• Refreshments, & mite offering.

• Valentine’s cards and treat bags delivered to St. James Plaza in Imperial Beach CA.

• Mite Box Sunday held the fourth Sunday of the month.

• Knitting Ministry-ladies knit  various items and gift them to people fighting illness.

• Funeral Ministry-we serve a reception meal in the Fellowship Hall after a memorial service for a loved one.

• Donuts and coffee after Sunday service.

• Annual collection of coats, scarfs and sweaters for the Warmth for Women mission.

• Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child. (Christmas Boxes)
