To provide a Christian environment for young children:
To give children a sense of security and trust in their world.
To provide opportunities for learning through play and hands-on experiences.
To help children build a positive self-image.
To foster physical, social, emotional, intellectual and spiritual growth.
St. James Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten is a ministry of St. James Lutheran Church, providing a warm and loving Christ-centered environment where young children can develop to their fullest potential.
Each child is a unique and special gift of God born with a natural desire to learn about God's world.
Each child needs to develop a sense of security and trust in his or her
world; knowing and experiencing the unconditional love of Jesus is the
most effective means of developing a sense of trust.
Young children learn best through play. Thy acquire knowledge of God's world through repeated hands-on experiences.
Young children develop a sense of respect for self and others through
natural social interactions with children and adults. They learn
positive ways for interacting with others through the example of staff
and hearing the message of God's love for all people.
Non-discrimination Policy: St. James Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten admits children of any sex, religion, race, color, ancestry, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to children at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of sex, religion, race, color, ancestry, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, or other administered programs. St. James Lutheran reserves the right to refuse admittance or dis-enroll a child if there is a threat to the personal or emotional well-being to students or our staff.
Preschool Readiness Policy: Children must be 3 years-old by November 15th upon the date of enrollment. We have accepted 2½ year-olds in the past if there is a class available and if the child has mature-readiness and is COMPLETELY POTTY-TRAINED. All children who enter our program must be toilet-trained prior to enrollment in our school. They cannot wear diapers or pull-ups; they must be able to use the bathroom without staff assistance. Accidents do occur but if a repeating pattern develops, it would lead to dis-enrollment of your child.
Kindergarten Readiness Policy: The Kindergarten accepts children who are five-years old with mature readiness on or before December 2nd. Prior to the entrance of their child, parents are to provide:
Withdrawal Policy: Two weeks notice must be given for withdrawal from the school. Full tuition is required up to the day of withdrawal. If required notice is not given, a charge will be made for the two weeks.
Dis-enrollment: St. James Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten may dis-enroll your child or children for policy violation, financial delinquency, excessive absences, and discipline problem or for the health and well-being of other students and staff of the school.
Complete handbook and enrollment forms are available in the school office.
